Rules

These rules are here to make everyone's stay in #hottub a pleasant and rewarding experience. Please note that our chanops are there to ensure that everyone's stay is pleasant, and that these rules are open to interpretation by them as and when the situation demands.
When you're finished reading this, go have a look at our netiquette page too, it explains why these rules are in place.

The channel operators reserve the right to allow or disallow connections to this channel, without prior notification and without justification and to act in any way they see fit against individuals or organisations abusing the channel, its resources or of its users in any way.

Rules

1. You must read all the rules.
2. Please register your nick. This allows you access to features like memoserv etc, and it also means no-one else can impersonate you! If your nick is not registered, type /msg nickserv register password youremail@ddress (password can be anything; then check your mail for your auth. code)
3. Asking Age/Sex/Location (A/S/L) in open channel is rude.
4. Typing ALL IN CAPITALS is interpreted as shouting, please don't shout.
5. Flooding (pouring large amounts of text into channel at once) will be seen as an attack and dealt with accordingly.
6. Constantly repeating yourself is annoying - please don't.
7. Leave the trout alone, please.
8. Sexually explicit or obviously drug-related nicks are not acceptable.
9. Revealing another persons real name or private details without their consent will be seen as abuse/harassment.
10. Begging for ChanOp status is not welcome - only regular, responsible users will be rewarded with ChanOp status.
11. Intentionally using the same name, or pretending to be another user will not be tolerated.
12. Swearing, explicit language and drug-related chat is forbidden - in addition to being very rude, we do have younger users who may be adversely affected by this kind of language.
13. No script pagers/auto-aways/auto-responses in channel.
14. Advertising other channels (except #acro) or networks in #hottub is forbidden.
15. Advertising products or services for monetary gain in #hottub is forbidden.
16. Discrimination in any way, shape or form will NOT be tolerated in #hottub and the chanops are fully entitled to kick/ban you if you are found to be discriminatory towards others. This includes (but is not limited to) discrimination against race/colour/creed/height/weight and sexual preference.
17. Please stick to English in the tub ... for the benefit of our international visitors.
18. SMS abbreviations are not appreciated.
19. #hottub isn't a singles bar. If you're here to pick up a date, you're in the wrong place.
20. If you don't like these rules, leave.

Should there be occasion to protest a chanop's decision, only after you have attempted to resolve the situation with the chanop in question in private, the following procedure may be followed:

• Collate concise supporting logs of the incident as well as conversations of your attempt to resolve it in a plain text document (.txt format: Windows users can use Notepad to do this)
• Compose a short explanatory paragraph and mail both to abuse@hottub.za.org

1. No Harassing Users (Swearing, Sexually Harassing)
2. No Flooding, Cloning, Mass Messaging, Mass Invites, etc
3. No Sex, Warez, MP3 or Hacking Channels
4. No unsolicited advertising
5. You must display a valid e-mail address
6. No Bots, Clones, War, Fserv or Nuking Tools/Scripts
7. No Ops Begging
8. No Promotion of ILLEGAL Activities (drugs, etc)
9. Nuking is Forbidden on this network, nukers will be k-lined on sight
10. No Distribution of Illegal Software or Child Pornography
11. Socks Proxies, EZBounce, Vhosts, BNC's etc are forbidden and will be k-lined
12. Please choose a nick that is not obscene or rude
13. No users under the age of 12 are allowed to chat here
14. Anyone found contravening these rules will be k-lined with or without warning.
15. No discrimination of any sort will be tolerated, this includes sexual and racial discrimination.
16. If you don't like these rules - LEAVE!!
17. By connecting to this server, you agree to abide by the above rules
